Hailey Wagner is a 3rd year Navajo and Hopi undergraduate student double majoring in Environmental Studies and Anthropology. She grew up in Mesa, Arizona but is originally from Oaks Springs, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. She is a student assistant for the Wassaja San Carlos Montezuma Center Garden (Oidag). Her interests in learning more about traditional healing and understanding the processes of plants made her want to be a part of the Virtually Integrated Project to conduct research through the Wassaja Center. Her career goal of giving back to Indigenous communities motivates her to gain the knowledge of environmental practices and network with other Native American students and faculty. She is also a part of the Earth Grant Program Cohort of 2026-2027 at the University of Arizona as a Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition Land Management Intern. She is dedicated to understanding and learning more about Indigenous cultures to represent her people’s way of life in her future career.
